Welcome to St. Alma

Born as an ode to Alma Avalon’s long-lost sister, St. Alma is a story of transformation and community. What was once the old Bendigo Bank has been carefully reimagined into a place for Freshwater to gather, connect, and celebrate.

Here, contemporary Mexican cuisine meets the warmth of coastal hospitality. Every detail — from the design of the space to the dishes on the table — is crafted to create a dining experience that feels both elevated and effortlessly relaxed.

St. Alma isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a home for shared moments, vibrant flavours, and memories made around the table.

Our drinks

Set within the historic Old Bendigo Bank, St. Alma’s drinks list is crafted in line with the seasons. Curated by Group Beverage Manager Austin Andrews-Little, the menu celebrates produce from Australia and Mexico, with a citrus-driven focus that highlights unexpected — yet unforgettable — flavour combinations.

Our Food

St. Alma reflects Owner Tim Christensen’s culinary journey, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced seafood. Expect techniques like week-long dry aging and curing to bring out the full depth of Australian seafood, paired with the vibrant flavors of coastal Mexico and the finest produce from Australia’s east coast — creating a dining experience like no other.

BROADSHEET

“Alma’s Little Sister, St Alma, Is Freshwater’s Gorgeous New Mexican Eatery in a Former Bank. An impressive fit-out paired with experimental flavours (and a cocktail list that includes five types of Margarita) makes St Alma a welcome addition to this beachside ’burb.”

The Urban List

“St. Alma is the sister venue to Avalon’s popular Alma restaurant, an established purveyor of good times, tasty hard shell sashimi tacos, and one killer fig mezcal Negroni.”

CONCREte Playground

“Freshwater has welcomed a new Mexican eatery that boasts an expansive set menu of food and drink. A sibling to Avalon's Alma, St. Alma joins the long-standing venue in the northern beaches 30-minutes south from the OG eatery.”
